GreenFlexJET

DWG Next's Partner, Angela Grassi, through our Allied Partner, ETA-Florence Renewable Energies, led the dissemination, communication, exploitation, public awareness and engagement workstream of the GreenFlexJET project under the European Commission's Horizon 2020 programme between 2018 and 2022.

GreenFlexJET pioneered the conversion of diverse organic waste feedstocks into sustainable aviation fuel, improving economic viability and sustainability by processing waste close to its source and at a scale aligned with local waste availability. The project introduced the first technology to incorporate green hydrogen derived from waste feedstocks directly into the refining process, thereby maximising greenhouse gas savings. Technical and economic validation was achieved through the construction of a pre-commercial demonstration plant delivering high-quality SAF. GreenFlexJET produced a concrete blueprint for the production and distribution of this novel SAF technology, supporting the achievement of medium and long-term carbon reduction targets established for the aviation industry across Europe and beyond.
