Gerardo Patacconi is a senior international executive with over three decades of experience at the intersection of global policy, sustainability, and economic development. He brings a rare ability to connect public and private sector dynamics, shaping high-impact strategies across complex international environments.
Throughout his career, Gerardo has held leadership roles within major international institutions, including the International Coffee Organization (ICO) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), where he led global initiatives in sustainable agribusiness, value chain transformation, and policy alignment.
He has been instrumental in driving strategic reforms, mobilizing international funding, and building multi-stakeholder partnerships across governments, financial institutions, and global organizations. His work has contributed to key international agendas involving entities such as the United Nations system, the G20, and the European Union, particularly in areas related to bioeconomy, circular economy, and ESG frameworks.
At DWG Next, Gerardo leads the Agri-Business Practice, where he develops and structures strategic initiatives across sustainable agriculture, food systems, and global value chains. In this capacity, he works at the intersection of investment, policy, and operational execution, supporting clients and partners in navigating complex transitions toward more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable agri-business models.
Gerardo combines operational leadership with deep analytical expertise, supporting the design and implementation of scalable, sustainable models that enhance resilience and inclusivity across global value chains.
He holds a degree in Statistics from the University of Rome “La Sapienza” and has pursued further executive training in strategic leadership and quality management. He is fluent in Italian, English, French, and Spanish.
