Daniel, who is a British citizen, brings more than three decades of experience in the telecoms, media, and technology sectors, advising clients worldwide. Consistently ranked for around 25 years in leading independent research guides, including recognition as a Global Thought Leader by Who’s Who Legal, he is renowned for his international commercial, corporate, and regulatory expertise, leading teams on complex matters across the globe and into space.
He is a Cambridge law graduate (Jesus College). He has passed the SFA investment banking exams. He speaks seven languages.
Respected throughout the telecoms industry, he has served as a judge for the prestigious Capacity Awards, sat on the Mobile Ecosystem Forum EMEA Board, and represents clients across the full telecoms ecosystem: governments, regulators, MNOs, MVNOs, big data companies, IoT providers, resellers, hosted telephony operators, and law firms seeking specialist telecoms support.
He is a recognised authority on satellite law, including acting as external counsel to a satellite regulator and chairing an international working group of satellite lawyers hosted in his metaverse office. He advises on cutting-edge issues in Artificial Intelligence, IoT/M2M, and connected cars. His expertise also spans GDPR, data retention, privacy, surveillance, interception, encryption, and international acquisitions.
He is a frequent speaker and chair at major global industry events such as Mobile World Congress, GCCM, and Capacity Europe. He provides regulatory guidance to key industry associations including Comms Council UK, MEF, and FCS.
Earlier in his career, he worked in Deutsche Morgan Grenfell’s telecoms investment banking team, headed telecoms and technology practices at two City law firms, and advised on anti-trust matters at the European Commission’s Competition Directorate. Beyond telecoms and tech, his client base spans film, video games, fashion, and CleanTech.
